CHARLOTTE -- For the fourth consecutive year, Corporate Responsibility (CR) magazine has named Duke Energy  one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens.

Duke Energy was ranked 35th on the 2012 list after being independently assessed in seven key areas: environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial and governance.

"This is a tribute to the approximately 18,000 Duke Energy employees who work daily to make a positive impact not only in the workplace but in their communities" said James E. Rogers, Duke Energy's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "This honor from CR, and being listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for two consecutive years, indicate that we are achieving a good balance among the needs of people, the planet and profits."

CR's 100 Best Corporate Citizens List assesses companies on the Russell 1000® stock market index. The magazine's list is based solely on publicly available information. It is available, in full, at www.thecro.com .
