Our Work

Governance

Southern Governors are mindful of their role as stewards of the public’s trust, and continually strive to manage their states’ public resources in the most effective and efficient manner.

In the face of the budget challenges of the current fiscal environment, good governance is especially critical. Across the region, Southern Governors are using technology to improve transparency and ensure accountability to residents of their state.  They are taking a critical look at state bureaucracy to guarantee that the structure of government runs smoothly and without waste, and they are working to make sure that their administrations adhere to high ethical standards.

Southern Governors’ Association serves as an open forum where Governors can exchange ideas about improving governance, discuss solutions to pressing problems and share successful practices with their colleagues.
