SGA Issues of Regional Importance

Southern states have many commonalities — from history to culture to economics. Often, these similarities have resulted in a shared perspective and mutual agreement between Southern Governors. Over the years, Southern Governors have deliberated and collaborated on a wide variety of policies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the region’s growth and prosperity. Always, SGA focuses its efforts on issues where the South is distinct from other regions of the nation, and where collaboration amongst Southern Governors will bring mutual benefit to multiple states. These efforts generally fall into one of five issue areas: 

SGA’s Policy and Legislative Program

Each year, Southern Governors identify a number of policy and legislative issues on which they would like to work together at the Federal level.
