Rum Tax Formula Extended for Virgin Islands; Additional $40M for V.I. Government
The U.S. House of Representatives today reversed its vote of last week and approved a landmark $700 billion financial bailout bill which includes a two-year extension of the rum tax formula worth an additional $40 million for the Virgin Islands government.

Gov. O'Malley Announces Construction of Solar Power System for State Agency
Governor Martin O’Malley and Maryland Environmental Service (MES) announced today that it has signed an agreement with Constellation Energy’s Projects & Services Group, a subsidiary of Constellation Energy, to construct a solar power system that will generate approximately 300 kW of power at the agency’s headquarters in Millersville.

Gov. Jindal Announces $57.1 Million in LIHEAP Funding
Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced that the federal funding continuing resolution recently signed by President Bush includes $57.1 million for Louisiana through the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to assist low-income families in affording the high cost of utility bills.
