SGA representatives and other policy makers and thought leaders from the American South gather in front of the Reichstag, the seat of Germany's Parliament known for its renewable energy use and energy efficiency capabilities. SGA participated in a clean energy tour of Germany, June 6-11, 2010.

In Berlin, participants toured the Reichstag Building, which houses the German Bundestag and is fully equipped with environmentally sensitive low-energy technology.

In East Berlin, participants toured KlimaSolarHaus - the city's only inter-generational "passive house," which is heated strictly through renewable energy technologies.

The Southern delegation visits the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) for a presentation on German energy policy strategies for low-carbon growth and electric mobility.

Brad Williams, Deputy Secretary of Energy for OK Gov. Brad Henry, represents SGA in a moderated panel on "Transforming the Energy Sector." Alongside Ulrich Kelber, Deputy Chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag, Williams addressed the challenges and opportunities of moving toward 100% renewables in the U.S. and Germany.

In Essen, the Southern Delegation visited the RWE e-Mobility Center for a test-tour with an electric car. Later toured Eickhoff Maschinenfabrik -- Eickhoff is a leading supplier of mining technology, and a market leader in gearbox technology for wind turbines.
