Communications and Broadband

Southern Governors understand that resilient and robust communications systems, including broadband and satellite technologies, have the potential to provide enormous economic benefits for the region, including improved health, safety, and education of Southern residents. 

In recent years, Southern Governors have identified emergency communications interoperability as a key area where Southern states should work together, specifically as a means of improving public safety.  In 2007, SGA coordinated a Governors’ task force on emergency communications interoperability and spectrum.  The result of the task force was an SGA resolution in support of a broad set of principles regarding the development of an interoperable public safety communications network.
