The Florida Discount Drug Card has already reduced prescription drug costs for seniors and working families. Governor Crist’s focus on adoption is helping place a record number of Florida’s children in loving, safe and permanent homes.
WORLD CLASS SCHOOLS – Governor Crist is committed to paying Florida’s teachers more, fostering healthy lifestyles in young students and keeping higher education affordable. The Governor’s priorities include increases for teacher merit pay, incentives for middle school physical fitness programs and no tuition increases in higher education.
SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS
– One of Governor Crist’s greatest priorities remains public safety. Tougher laws such as the Anti-Murder Act are having an impact on Florida’s crime rate, and new efforts to target gang activity and cybercrime will prevent future tragedies.
A VIBRANT ECONOMY – Governor Crist and the Florida Legislature have taken steps to lower property insurance rates an average of nearly 16 percent and property taxes by $25 billion over 5 years. The Governor is committed to fighting for more relief that puts money back in the pockets of Florida’s families when they need it most.
SUSTAINABLE NATURAL RESOURCES – Governor Crist has recommended an economic development package for solar, wind and other renewable energy, and to promote biofuels in Florida and encourage alternative fuels such as ethanol. The Governor is working to develop a green technology hub in the Sunshine State and move Florida another step closer to being the greenest state government in the nation.
