Director of Operations and Conferences

Liz Purdy Porter, CMP, CMM, is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s meeting planning and office management. She plays a central role in preparing and managing SGA’s annual operating budget and works closely with Corporate Affiliate Program members.

Liz has worked for SGA since 1992, including two brief tenures as acting director. She currently serves on the boards of the Engalithcheff Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems (an intern program of The Fund for American Studies) and the State Services Organization, and previously served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Citizen’s Advisory Council for the Executive Mansion of Virginia. Prior to working at SGA, she held positions as editor and print production manager for a reference book publisher.

Liz earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Organizational Theory and Administrative Behavior from DePauw University, and has earned the Certified Meeting Professional and Certification in Meeting Management credentials.
