Director of Policy and Programs

Jennifer Schwartz oversees SGA's legislative program, working with Southern states’ staffs, governmental affairs experts and private-sector representatives to advance SGA's wide-ranging priorities in the general areas of economic development, education, energy and environment and health and human services, with special focus on ensuring equity in Federal programs for Southern states.

A former Senior Legislative and Policy Associate at the National Council of State Housing Agencies, Jennifer has extensive experience working with all levels of state government, and previously worked as a writer and Policy Analyst for the Massachusetts Advocacy Center and a Case Manager and Child Advocate at Women's Protective Services in Framingham, MA.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology with a concentration in Women's Studies at Brandeis University, and later earned a Master of Science degree in Public Administration and Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
