Brendan Costigan supports SGA by conducting research and helping to develop policy positions on a wide range of priorities in the general areas of economic development, education, energy and environment and health and human services, with special focus on ensuring equity in Federal programs for Southern states.
Prior to joining SGA in December 2006, Brendan served as the Policy and Outreach Coordinator with the Center for Summer Learning at Johns Hopkins University, a role that called for sustained outreach to the nation’s governors, informing them of, and soliciting from them, support for high-quality summer learning programs. Before joining the Center for Summer Learning, Brendan spent a year as a Dunn Fellow assigned to a wide-range of education issues under Governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University.
